The boy and I

My little prince and I often take impromptu journeys to nearby open spaces.  We get up in the morning get ready and I ask him where he wants to go.  Last week he decided that he wanted to go on a bear hunt.

The books that you read them when they are young stay in their minds long after they have moved onto new favourites and pop up just in time to force you into wellies on a sunny day :)

Needless to say there was no mud for us to slosh through, but there were plenty of twigs for him to collect.  He decided he would take them home to camp like 'daddy pig'.

We stopped in the park for a quick play before starting our walk home.

We told the bear hunt story all the way home and must have looked like a right pair sploshing around in invisible mud, whirling around in made up snow storms and stumbling through imagination woods but we had lots of fun doing it.

Season's Trends

I haven't gone mad and randomly posted a picture of the teen princess just for the sake of it.  I've been persuaded by the fab prizes to enter the Pearl and Butler mothers day competition and this photo of my little beauty is our entry :)

Listography - My life in books.

It's been a while since I joined in with Listography but when I came across 'My life in books' I had to join in.  I spent my whole childhood, my teen years and my university years with my eyes in a book and my mind somewhere other than reality.  It was difficult for me to sum up my life in just 5 books but these are the ones I fondly remember.  Though I still own copies of all these books they are deep in storage somewhere so I have borrowed photos.

Growing up

Mum it's time for me to go now,
I don't need you to hold my hand,
I want to see the world around me
run my fingers through the sand.
I want to jump in muddy puddles
and create a nest of leaves,
I want to go where the others go,
crawl on my hands and knees.
I want to swing beyond the clouds
to climb to highest heights.
I want to run through the grass
and catch insects as they pass.

Mum it's time for me to go now,
I don't need you to watch,
I want to jump right up from falling
walk on my own two feet.
I want to pick my favourite foods
I want to choose what I should eat.
I want to be a big boy,
do a pee pee in my potty,
I want to wipe my own nose,
make my face ever so snotty.

Mum now the sun has disappeared
the stars are in the sky,
it's time for you to rub my head
and give me a kiss good night.
It's time to read a story,
it's time to hold me near
It's time that you remember
I will always want you here.
